Our family has a proud history of military service that spans at least five generations. My great-grandfather, Major General Paul R. Hawley, was the Surgeon General of the European Theater of Operations. My grandfather, also served in Europe, was awarded 2 Bronze Stars (one for valor), my father served in the Coast Guard, I served in Iraq, in the army, and now the next generation has joined the Marines.
We hang the pictures, awards, and medals on our dining room wall in honor of the men (and their families) who served in our family. I will post stories and news articles moving forward.
